Devon Works Tread 2 Reaches Full Maturity

At Baselworld, we gave you a glimpse of the prototype of Devon Works’ first Tread 2, a more accessible version of the popular Tread 1 (which I reviewed previously). Jeff Stephenson, the chief engineer of the design lab, provided a detailed explanation, clarifying that some adjustments were needed before the final specifications were released. These adjustments ultimately evolved into a complete redesign because company founder Scott Devon was concerned that the Tread 2 “might be seen as a derivative of the Tread 1.” This makes perfect sense. The production version of the Tread 2 represents a significant improvement in industrial design compared to the prototype. Its case structure is distinctive, with the bezel secured by eight clasps, reminiscent of Richard Mille watches. The movable temples remain a highlight, this time with a more rugged angle, inspired by the tip of a hunting knife. Additional lugs cleverly connect the case and strap, adding a touch of contrast to some of the colored models. The display design remains largely unchanged from the original concept.

Baselworld will showcase four Tread 2 watches, including a stainless steel version, a black DLC-coated version, a red and black version, and a white version.
